Quarry Bank Primary School

Be kind. Work hard. Better yourself.

Design Technology

At Quarry Bank, we want to inspire children to be future designers, engineers, architects and chefs through real life context.  Children  should be able to design, create and evaluate existing designs, use critical thinking and creative problem solving to support them in the wider world. Throughout the DT programme, children should be able create a range of structure, mechanisms, textiles and food products with a real life purpose.

Design and Technology is currently being led by Miss Newton.

Below is a summary of our 'subject on a page'.

One of our most recent DT enrichment activities was our International Monuments Day competition. There were over 70 entrants and they were all of an unbelievably high standards. We had everything from the Pyramids in Egypt and Easter Island, to more local monuments like the Glass Cone (3D printed!) and the Round Oak Steel Works monument recently installed in Brierly Hill. We were so incredibly proud of how well children applied their DT skills to creating and celebrating architecture and monuments across the globe.
