Vision and Values
Our school is driven by its core purpose, supported by the values we follow, underpinned by the Curriculum Drivers we use to make sure our children receive exactly what they need to be successful. Each principle supports the other, and all are essential to the current and future success of our school.
The history of Quarry Bank Primary School is clear; the school has always served a community that is deprived in terms of household income, but one not deprived of character, resilience and heart. The community is, and always has been, full of hard-working and strong people, doing their best for those around them.
Our collective vision for the children at Quarry Bank Primary School is born out of that story.
“Educating children with the skills and ambition to strive for a life of choice and opportunity”
In order to achieve our vision, we instil a sense of belonging and togetherness through the ‘Quarry Bank Way’. These are a set of core values that help our community understand how we behave and conduct ourselves in a positive manner, developing both character and effective habits over time. They are referenced during positive praise and they are celebrated throughout school. Our staff badge embodies the values, symbolising the necessity to live by them so the children can climb the ‘bonk’ and succeed.
Our 'vehicle' to achieve our vision are our Curriculum Drivers. These are the focus of our curriculum and underpin our curriculum design and teaching. They were chosen by the staff as a team, using a range of sources, understanding and experience to determine what exactly we believed our Quarry Bank children need from their curriculum. They are as follows:
Inspired - learning opportunities will encourage our children to look to figures from the past and present, learning from their experiences and feeling motivated to carve their own path.
Excited - learners will have fun and they will enjoy discovering about the marvel of our world!
Ambitious - learners will want to be the best version of themselves, motivated by being exposed to the best that has been thought and said.
Knowledgeable - learners will understand the importance of knowing more and remembering more. They will be able to apply this knowledge throughout the curriculum, deepening their understanding of key themes and concepts.
Articulate - learners will become effective communicators and be able to share learning in a range of ways, using both technical and ambitious vocabulary.
Curious - learners will be brave enough to ask (and answer) the questions that matter. They will celebrate diversity and develop an understanding of global issues.
Our Curriculum Drivers can be seen in greater detail below:
Our school values are the principles we believe our children should live by to achieve our vision. At Quarry Bank Primary School we talk about our values all the time - they are purposefully over-communicated so they are entrenched in all that we do.
Be kind. Work hard. Better yourself.
