Early Years Foundation Stage

Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage

Here at Quarry Bank Primary School Pre-School, Nursery and Reception we provide children with a wide range of opportunities. They will learn through structured and child initiated learning. We provide well-planned play, both indoors and outdoors, encouraging learning through enjoyment and challenge. We encourage children to become independent learners. The emphasis in Nursery and Reception is on making learning through play, fun and rewarding for your child.

The aims of Early Years Foundation Stage:

Senior Teacher - Mrs Julie Hingley

* To create a secure, caring and friendly environment where both adults and children are valued and have mutual respect for each other.
* To develop a child’s social skills to enable them to interact with their peers and adults and to prepare them to become tolerant members of the local community.
* To promote high standards of behaviour and provide a code of conduct, by which all pupils will live, work and play.

The curriculum is known as the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’. The curriculum has seven areas of learning and development. All areas are important and inter-connected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s
curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive.
